With out a GC, you may not get the best rate. But you sure can get a mortgage loan while in H1/EAD.
When you shop around ask for rate quote and that time they won't ask your immigration status. If bank changes the rate based on your immi status, do not go with them.
I bought the house while I was on H1 4 years back (I am still using my H1 and I have an EAD now) and nobody asked me my imm status. I submitted the document at the time of doing paperwork but it did not change my rate. I got the best rate based on my credit from wells fargo.

Yes, you're right, Berkeleybee, that no restriction on AC-21 job portability contradicts labor certification stage. But isn't it also true we can change our job to whatever we want once we get GC? Due to the false system, if we lost years waiting in line, why can't they change the rule to make up for it? I think it is a legitimate and justifiable demand.

Me also got RFE for 485. My priority date is 2006 Aug. Mine was related to medical report. Dr corrected the mistake and replied back.

Just a thought.... Don't waste your time with dishonest employers. I have wasted 2 years on my previous employer. I would have my PD 2001. My friend wasted 3 years. Now and me and my friend work for different companies, with very good relationship, having no problem interacting with lawyers or having our employers sign any paper CIS might ask. I had victim mentality until I realized that it's a market economy. You sell, your employer buys. If you don't like to deal with him, start looking for another "buyer". Don't rush. Find a good job, transfer your H1, and start everything afresh - I know it's hard, but that's a way to go. Don't be stuck to your employer for 5 years and later cry "my employer didn't want to apply for I-140, didn't give me latter for I-485", "my lawyer didn't respond to RFE, now I'm in trouble", etc. etc. CIS/DOL will give you enough headache even without employer's "assistance".
And, btw, I have waited 9 months for my PERM to be approved. No RFE, no nothing - just 9 freaking months.

And your price seems really good too.
Maybe you would be interested in visiting another forum too, at www.wahm.com. You might be able to get some customers there because most people there have websites and don't know or have Flash.
I also find that they give good marketing advice. I don't know if you need it, but I do, so I really appreciate it.

A friend of mine who went to India's premier institution - IIT in India and then to IIM worked for one of the fortune 100 companies here in the US.

Per Murthy EAD will be ganted only for one year if I-140 has not yet approved.

Yes, My I-140 is still pending but both me and my wife got 2 year EAD.

Why I said H1 and H4 is not in same class is, when you choose "Purpose of Travel" as "working in USA" then they are showing multiple choices for "Select Visa class". where it lists H1 , H2, h3 etc.. separately. When H1 and H2/ H3 are not in same class then how H4 will be of same class as H1.

I had applied for Labor Substitution/140/485/EAD concurrently on July 2nd. If I understand the process correctly, I would receive 3 different receipt notices and 3 different approvals for LC/140/485?
I have applied in NSC. What is the approximate processing times for approving:
1. Labor Substitution
2. I 140
3. I 485.
Also, will they start processing 485 only after LC and 140 are approved?

My company want to book me on flight and comanty sponsored cruise. Cruise leaves on Feb 27th. I am afraid it I will have AP then. Company need some confirmation of getting it as they will lose money.
I called USCIS and placed request to Expedite based on catagory 1 (financial loss to employer or individual). I was told that I will hear somehting in 5 days?
Should I contact local congressman and place request through them? How does the procedure go? I have no clue. I have taken infopass appointment at local USCIS for next week but I know that will be waste of time.
Any suggestions?

Also, at this point there are some questions lingering around your 'consulting' agency. I'm pretty sure a 4 yr. degree from an accredited college/university is considered equivalent to BS here. I really have suspicions on the real cause that's being presented to you.
You may want to check if your agency is employing others and if so, get in touch with one of them and gather facts.
I am no expert on saving your status, hence I am not commenting.
