Ok, I've checked the iPhoto version (version 9.0). So I decided, whatever, I'll update. However, my DOCK started to flash in and out (like when I killall Dock in Terminal) but automatically. It flashes every single second! I know it's the iLife apps because I uninstalled all of them in CleanMyMac app and did a reboot, and no dock flashing. But then, when I did a clean reinstall of my iLife '11, bam. Dock flashes. Right now I'm trying to ignore it, and am running Software Update - downloading updates right now. Here's my log in Console if it helps.

Hello,
I am planning on getting a 2011 15" MacBook Pro and have experience with Macs and Boot Camp. However, I am not 100% sure on this question and was hoping y'all could help.
I am going to have a 128GB SSD in the main HD slot. I will also have a 500GB 5400 RPM hard drive in the opti-bay. I am planning on partitioning the SSD to give OS X 64GB and Windows 7 64GB. My question is...if I install just the Windows OS on the SSD, will I be able to install the Windows programs to the hard drive in the opti-bay slot? I will also use the opti-bay drive to hold music, pictures, videos, etc. for both OS X and Windows.
Thanks in advance.

If it is a software problem (which I also suspect), it should be possible to make it disappear by installing linux and tweeking the video settings. It may also be a firmware issue, and it won't be fixed until Apple address the problem.
So, has anyone tried the new PB with Linux??
Personally I don't see it as a problem. I have to get as close as 15cm from the screen to actually see the effect. I know that would give me a headache, lines or not :)

I want to give a Mac mini away for a couple of days to someone who would want to play with Mac for the first time. Is there a way to return OS X to a state where you find it straight after fresh OS X installation when Mac needs to be taken through registration process, given name, etc.
I want to install all the accompanying software like iLife'05 and apply all the recent OS and iLife updates and then "reset/deauthorise" OS X so that the new user did not have to install apps and download updates the first thing after powering the Mac up and going online.
If you are familiar with what sysprep does to Windows, that's what I am looking for Mac OS X.
I assume the process should include removing all the user accounts, deleting assigned Mac name and kicking in a registration app at startup.
I just hope one does not need to buy OS X server for that!

The new 3.1 interface, while generally nice, takes away the option to change the color of the dock notification. Now I have clashing red starbursts in my Dock (those of NNW and Mail). I really preferred having only Mail red, because I need to see new mail out of the corner of my eye, but who really cares about new RSS items...:rolleyes:

You should be able to do this:
> cd /Volumes
> ls
Will give you the names of all mounted volumes -- you should see "Macintosh HD" listed, for instance. You should also see the ext hd. Use its name exactly as it is listed in the Volumes diretory. If it is indeed "New Volume," then you can:
cd "/Volumes/New Volume"
or
cd "New Volume" (if you're already in Volumes)
Notice the quotes. One funny aside, is that if you cd into "Macintosh HD," you get the same as the root directory. So your working directory can eventually be:
/volumes/macintosh hd/volumes/macintos hd/volumes/macintosh hd/.../
:D

I've got this camera and it's a very nice little package. My 1GB card fits a hella of a lot of images, the quality is superb and at that price... it's hard to go wrong.
A very handy little camera that I'd highly recommend.

Hi,
As the crazy person who invented this gadget I hope it's ok to post a comment. First of all I'm dog tired from having the ride of my life at MacWorld '08. I feel like I've finally found my extended family. Everybody was very, very cool, everybody had a great sense of humor and every person who tried it was amazed at the effect. As for the iLidz, all I can say is I dared myself and then kept moving forward...Think different and then Just Do It! My two good brain cells fired at the same time and this is what came out! Two posts ago Spanky Deluxe hit the bulls eye as to what inspired me to make it. It's not for looking cool or walking down the street or for driving a car. It's for those times when you don't care who's around. One of the things that kept me going was the fact that I'm able to lay back in bed with my head in my pillow and watch a movie as if it was on a about a 65" display and not wake up my wife! I'd easily wear it on an airplane, there's nothing worse when the in-flight movie sucks. The other reason, both my wife and I have iPhones which was quite expensive and I'd never slap down the $250-$300 to buy a "cool" pmv, plus my kids would probably break it in a day. So, this alternative does the same thing for $29.95 and it's almost unbreakable! ;)

The leaks tool doesn't tell you where leaks happened. It tells you where leaked objects were created. The red line is where the leaked string was created.
There's no obvious bug in the code shown. Does anything else leak? Do you release the address in the MapViewController dealloc method? Does the MapViewController leak?

They obviously think that the current IDE = fail, if they are releasing a total overhaul of the UI.
Making the IDE better will help them bring in new developers.
Xcode 3 is still a serviceable IDE, far from a "fail". The fact is it's been around since 2003 and definitely needed a refresh.
Hopefully the final release of 4 will coincide with some nice MBP updates so I have a nice reason to justify buying a new laptop. :)

Actually those bags wouldn't look half-bad if they didn't have the spymac logo plastered everywhere. Too bad, I'm just using a sleeve and backpack for my ibook...
Hideous design, rude forum-goers, and their overtly biased editorials give mac users a bad name. Why support Spymac?

It's getting louder because Skype is a CPU-intensive program, which causes your processor to heat up. The noise you hear are the cooling fans. Any video chat program will do the same thing.
