I understand that one cannot guess when USCIS sends out receipts. All I wanted to know was if there will be different receipts sent out for LC/140/485 and if the processing will be done simultaneously or separately.
you ask your lawyer. This forum is meant to solve or find answers to our problems. Not to answer questions. Do your research . Understand the requirements and steps. There are somethings predictable with USCIS. And above all, you have google to search for your answers. Dont always try to take a short cut to find your answers. Already you have done a LC. Now atleast put in ur efforts to understand the GC world. It is not a rocket science unless you want to know the internal working procedures of USCIS in detail.

My I-140 is still pending at NSC.
I am planning to change my apartment. Same city, different zipcode, better deal!
Please advise when is AR-11 to be filed, is it based on lease start date or actual move date? :confused:

I guess we need another tracker for those who received EAD, but no SSN.

Hi,
I applied I-140/485 last July. In November, 2007 I left the previous employer, i.e. before 180 days. In April, 2008, my I-140 is approved, i.e. after 180 days. I have worked for them for 4.5 years.
Now my lawyer told me that legally my I-140 deems invalid because I left before 180 days. I and my ex-employer has to prove that I had the good intent to work for them and my ex-employer had the good intent to hire me after GC is approved. I will have the burden of proof. Since my ex-employer is not willing to cooperate, my GC can be denied or revoked.
What's your opinion on this?

Ok thanks, is this a full 12 months with entry to the US, as I have been travelling into the US on the odd weekend for personal trips. Not sure if that would impact on the 12 month time period or not.
it is believed to be 12 months outside US which can be interpreted as 12 months with no trips to US however please check with an immigration attorney. It seems like you may need a quick session to get clarification

Go for consulting job where you can stick to one company and continue your gc process. You will get better paid, you will meet more people, you will learn more and once you get green card you will have options to choose from the contacts.

Yes, EAD is bassed on the 485 you had filed. But it is very very risky to use the EAD even before I 140 is approved, since if by chance it is not approved or some very difficult query comes, and 140 doesnot get approved, you lose your H1 or L1 or whatever current status you are currently in, if you had begun using EAD(since the 485 is based on future approvablity of the 140 and once 140 gets denied, the 485 and EAD automaticaly gets denied)

I Applied my H1b extn on Jan 9th , and i went to India on 18th Jan and came back on 18th Feb using my AP is this could be cause for the delay.

The whole non-compete agreement is a cruel joke on the employee who finds his own project. All these incapable bad desi employers ban the employee from joining the client whom the employee got them in the first place.
I know a friend of mine works for an employer, he found his own project through a vendor, now because of non-compete agreement he cannot join the client, nor the vendor and now the employer and vendors are buddies and thinking of other business opportunities. In all this the employee is the loser while it was he who brought the employer and vendor together into minting more money at his expense.
This is especially true of smaller companies. Big companies at least have real end clients and find projects. With smaller companies, employee finds projects, helps build client list for his company, gets paid less than market rate, etc.
If the GC process were smoother, a lot of such employers would shut down. Their business model is helped by the immigration mess....
