Undoubtedly 10, it's the best desktop on Earth today.
And despite all this BS that Winblows fanboys love to spread around here, I am yet to see a PC beating my 2008 iMac in terms of overall performance, UI responsiveness and REAL multitasking capabilities (not the crap that Windows represents).
NONE of my friends and relatives (all of them NORMAL users) has a better-performing machine - so please be careful when reading posts from hobbyists about "building your machine" and the like. No ordinary customer does that or wants to do that.
- The iMac has the BEST screen in the industry;
- The BEST OS in the industry, with the option to run inferior Windows if you want to suffer;
- The BEST AIO design, and none of the bulkiness common to the ugly Windows world;
- The BEST keyboard;
- The BEST standard, multitouch mouse (magic mouse) - just genius;
- Even for an older machine like mine, EXCELLENT overall performance;
- Multitasking responsiveness that is miles ahead of Windows machines (remembering my pathetic PC at work);
- Almost totally silent;
- The best customer service in the world.
Windows PCs nowadays are just for three types of people:
1 - Hardcore gamers who love to brag about irrelevant specs or one extra FPS;
2 - People like the above who need to change their GPU every month or like to tinker with their boxes;
3 - Masochists.
Just buy your iMac and be happy - you're not gonna regret it.

I usually get my consoles straight from independent shops, or their suppliers. They're a bit cheaper and don't come with game bundles.
'Cept for when I bought my PSP. It cost 5 more ("um sorry we can't sell the console on its own"... d**ks!) but they foolishly bundled a brand new, AAA-tier game that I sold on for 20.
They can be good. Sometimes.

1. As previously mentioned, you're mirroring, which is pretty self explanatory, you're making a mirror image of your computer screen, resolution and all. Tell us how you truly want to use your external display: extended desktop, or as a main screen when at home? We'll be able to tell you more.
2. Because maximizing everything is a very windows-user and useless thing to do, once all the info/text on a page is on screen, any bigger is completely useless and just blocks everything out behind it. Macs are meant to multi-task, and not maximizing helps doing just that. If you truly want to maximize everything for some obscure reason, just drag the bottom right corner and resize the window manually.
1. When at work or home I would like to use the external monitor as the main display. When using the external, I only want to see the second display not the laptop unless i carrying the laptop around.
2. Got it, you are right I'm use to using windows and this is my first mac. So far everything is working great. Thanks for the response.

Tried to send you a pm, but your box is full.
Put me in line, if not first in line pending pics. I would like a machine of these specs. Consider me a serious buyer if there is no serious damage.

I just recently downloaded Wiretap and also record live streaming radio from iTunes.
The only way I could get these streams to cd was to re-assign audio prefs in Wiretap, to the .aif Quicktime setting and have the file saved on the desktop. Then re-import those AIFF files to iTunes, then burn.
Of course if you have Toast you can avoid using iTunes to burn the disc entirely.
I hope you get it working...

Good for them. Amazon is going to have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
The bigger issue though is whether tax breaks do any good. There's some evidence that companies search out the best deals and then jump ship when they find better ones.
VW and the state of Saxony in Germany are a good example of a long-term and mutually beneficial public/private relationship.
Why give a break if the company only has low wage, low benefit jobs? Wouldn't it be better to help provide financing and long term staying power if the company makes use of the graduates from your schools?
The short term mentality of so many American capitalists makes for a lot of wealthy gamblers but does nothing for the long term stability of American society.

Interesting bit of news here in the UK this morning. They've found evidence of a second (wooden) henge (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-10718522) at Stonehenge.
What I think is really interesting about this is that current thoughts about Neolithic monuments are all to do with stone being the domain of the ancestors and wood the domain of the living. It's thought that people would form processions between the two etc etc.
The fly in the ointment is that places like Avebury have associated wooden henges but Stonehenge (on it's own) appeared to be at odds with all this. Well, now they've found a wooden henge there as well.
(Mind you someone did suggest it might be the long lost visitors centre!;))

Honestly, what are the biggest risks of JBing an iPad? As much as I want the benefits, I can't afford a new one if I were to do anything irreversible to this one.
The biggest risk is you'll follow the advise of a jerk that doesn't even have an iPad, and believes he has all the answers..., in my opinion.
The iPad depends on flash memory, and flash memory has a limited number of write cycles, there is always a possibility that any memory upgrade will brick your device, but Apple uses pretty darn good flash memory, and I've yet to do it in over four years of jail breaking...
I will acknowledge it is not for everyone, and there is some risk involved. I've been convinced that I've bricked my unit more than once, yet I've always managed to recover it. Part of that just depends on how stubborn one is. How well one can read and follow directions.
Ideally you have a friend who can help you jailbreak the first time, kind of walk you through it, but even without such a friend it is possible to do it without issues.

The Northern Line isn't too bad on that front. The worst line is definitely the Metropolitan, on which you sometimes find it difficult to stay in your seat it jumps around so much.
LOL :) Must get pretty bad at rush hour then; people standing up and all that...

We always felt we were limited by certain open source projects, so we built our own. We have limitations on some of our remote systems, but we have no limits to the customizations in our proprietary CMS.

I've always fell for the "hauntingly beautiful" line, and I think it definitely fits with her. I have the album before this one (which I believe is her debut?) and had no idea a new one came out -- I'll have to check it out.

To go along with what others have posted...
You should definitely try to upgrade to either 10.3 or 10.4.
You'll find OS 10.1.x _very_ limiting, insofar as browsing is concerned, because the browsers and other software are too antiquated to handle much of what you'll encounter on the web today.
You should look for a 10.4 "universal" install DVD. Or, at the very least, OS 10.3.
Then, once you get the basic install completed, go to Apple's site and download the "combo" updater, which will get you to 10.4.11 (or to 10.3.9). Then use software update to apply whatever other updates are available.
IMPORTANT -- you _do_ have a drive in the older iMac that can read DVD's, is that correct?
